Winter has returned, the wind chill was cutting and the light for photography was rubbish but it didn’t stop a Yale, two Harvards and a P-51 in its new D-Day stripes from flying. A lot of cars and people visiting over the weekend for the Quilt Show being held in AirSpace.

Saturday 23rd March
A quiet Saturday at Duxford. Classic Wings were flying a couple of Tiger Moths and a Rapide along with Spitfire PV202, in its recently applied D-Day stripes, for ‘Fly in a Spitfire’ flights. Mark Miller did a couple of display routines in his Rapide. Of the GA visitor, the two that stood out was a Czech registered Zlin 43 with the crew wearing life vests and parachutes and a Belgian registered Jet Ranger III that dropped in for fuel.

A very, very warm Saturday at Duxford only spoilt by the horrible haze on the horizon and thin high cloud that was diffusing the sunlight giving a flat light. Oh for a stiff breeze to have blown it all away. The flying made up for it though. Mustang TF-51D/Contrary Mary flew in from Sywell for a few passenger flights along with Spitfire/PV202 providing passenger flights for Classic Wings. Harvard/TAZ, with its new wheel rim covers, was flying circuits and a temporary resident in AirSpace is the BBMF Dakota/ZA947 following a bit of work it had done at ARCo. No I don’t know how long it’s staying for. Did I mention it was very warm.
