The Michael Beetham Conservation Centre, located behind the War Planes hangar, is normally off limits to museum visitors. For one week in November each year it throws open its doors to enable the general public access to the centre's work for a behind-the-scenes look at aircraft conservation and also have a rare opportunity to view the current restoration projects including the Wellington Bomber, Range Safety Launch, Hawker Siddeley Kestrel and Hampden Bomber.
As it's over a six hour round trip on the train, I have an annual/early birthday treat visit to Cosford to coinside with the Conservation Centre opening.
