After the air show season, IWM Duxford doesn’t exactly shut down and hibernate until the following spring. There is still plenty of work going on behind the scenes but at a gentler pace. Although warbird flying is drastically reduced, there is still the occasional flight for air tests and public appearances and Classic Wings still fly visitors around the local area at the weekends and military and civil aircraft still drop in on day trips. Conservationists are at work preserving the museum fleet of aircraft, buildings and artifacts and engineers are still tinkering with their warbirds with routine maintenance to prepare their aircraft for the following spring and the start of the next round of air shows. I’ll post a small regular photo update over the winter months of any changes I notice from my visits.

28th December 2011: Hangar 3 is closed for the winter period but I was invited in for a sneaky peaky look around.
13th January 2012: A few external shots as it was a bitterly cold and frosty day.
14th February 2012: The Fighter Collection's P-47, 'SNAFU' was out on a cold winter's day for a couple of engine runs.
